Phil

Is it right that we can park on Parmasen & Peppers Car Park as you can not drive down to the Cricket Ground ?

Posted this info prior to postponed match last December. Lifted off the MLCJFL website, I presume it is still correct:

We play on the cricket pitch at Abbey Village. Coming from Preston, take M65 towards Blackburn and Burnley. Leave the M65 at Junction 3. Take 4th exit (A675) towards Bolton (used car sales garage on the corner). Coming the other way on the M65 from Burnley, you still leave at Junction 3, but the A675 will be the 1st exit.

As you come up the hill you will pass Alghero's Restuarant on the left. Keep going until you come into Abbey Village itself. Look out for Parmesan and Pepper (Italian Restaurant) on the right.

As you pass Parmesan and Pepper, look out for a dirt track almost immediately on your left that runs between two rows of terraced houses. This track leads behind the houses and onto some fields and a cricket pitch behind, which is where our pitch is located.

Car Parking

Please ask parents not to drive up the dirt track leading to the pitch itself. This can get very congested and it annoys the local residents. For games kicking off at 10.00 or 11.00am we have permission to park cars on the Parmesan and Pepper car park.

For later games when the restaurant is open you need to ask parents to park on the main road and then walk down the dirt track. Please ask parents to be careful on main road though as it can be quite busy.

Spectators

We will rope off an area for parents to stand and watch a yard back from the touch line down one side of the pitch. Please can you ask parents to stand behind the rope so that the boys have plenty of space to play.

Facilities

We do have a shed that you can use to change in if you need to, but we do not have toilets. Teas and coffees are usually on sale from the shed.

Other

The pitch itself is usually in pretty good shape and is very well kept. It is flat and is one of the larger ones in the under 9's league. It can be a bit exposed to the wind however, and can get cold in winter so wrap up warm.
